The Echidna – A Symbol of Quandialla

When you visit Quandialla, you’ll be welcomed by our village emblem – the Echidna. “Quandialla” itself is the Indigenous word for echidna, making this sculpture a fitting symbol of our community.

Created by local artist Anthony Douglass and unveiled in August 2024, the Echidna represents the resilience, strength, and unity of Quandialla over more than 110 years. Just as the echidna thrives in diverse conditions, our village continues to flourish with determination and spirit.

You’ll find the sculpture near the Memorial Park and Hall – the perfect starting point for a stroll through Main Street. Along the way, explore shopfronts past and present before discovering other highlights, including the Heritage Mural, the Settlers & Fetlers Wall, and the Soldiers Cenotaph.
